The following are reports on significant cases prosecuted by the attorneys of Severns Associates.

Patient's Rights and Care Advocacy Cases:
  • Ringo v. Hamilton - Four plaintiffs sue to enjoin the State of Indiana from changing its Medicaid "spend-down" policy in a way that would drastically curtail access to life-sustaining medical care.
  • Lemons v. Westminster Village North, Inc. - Involving attempted involuntary, intra-facility transfer of 98 year-old nursing home resident from her room to another "Medicaid-certified" room.
  • Schurbrock v. Intrepid Health Care Services - A federal district court judge orders a home health agency to follow doctor’s orders to deliver home health services to a 52 year-old man with multiple sclerosis. The case raises important issues of protection for Medicare beneficiaries who require home health services on a long-term basis.
Other Cases:
  • Daugherty v. Roob - Nearly 10,000 disabled Hoosiers will have their Medicaid benefits restored after Indiana officials, faced with the threat of a preliminary injunction, reached an agreement with attorneys for the plaintiffs in a federal court lawsuit: Daugherty ey. al v. Roob et. al.
